About 1,000 people spent Saturday afternoon at the inaugural Y’all Means All NC Beer Festival at Raleigh Brewing. The event was organized as an alternative to Brewgaloo, a downtown Raleigh festival organized by Shop Local Raleigh. In December, Shop Local Raleigh’s executive director made a transphobic comment on an anonymous Facebook account, drawing considerable criticism and calls for her resignation. Organizers for Y’all Means All NC came together and got to thinking: What if they could give people another choice of beer festival to go to? Brewgaloo still drew thousands to downtown Raleigh’s Fayetteville Street on Saturday. But in the back lot of @raleighbrewing, enough people showed up that several vendors ran out of beer.
